DHEC Fish Consumption Advisories: www.scdhec.net/environment/water/fish.SaltwaterLittle RiverNo reportGrand StrandInshore: Fair to good. Perry's Bait and Tackle reports that flounder fishing in Murrells Inlet is finally heating up, with good numbers and sizes starting to be caught. Cast or troll Carolina rigged live mud minnows on the bottom. The red drum fishing has also improved and spottails are starting to become a common by-catch for flounder fishermen. Trout fishing is also improving and on low tides during low light periods trout are being caught in the Pawley's Island area. Surf and Pier Report: Perry's reports that the first bluefish of the year were caught off the Garden City Pier a few days ago but no Spanish mackerel. Whiting are also starting to be caught off the piers and dogfish, sharks and skate are still around.* Georgetown Landing Marina reports that wahoo have been caught offshore, and black sea bass are in relatively close right now.CharlestonSheepshead: Good to very good. Haddrell's Point reports that the sheepshead fishing continues to be hot at nearshore reefs, the jetties and around bridge pilings. Fiddler crabs, clam strips and oysters fished with a vertical presentation will all work. Spottail Bass: Fair to good. Haddrell's Point reports that redfish have begun to feed more and more consistently, and they are showing signs of slowly starting to disperse out of their winter time schools. Spottail bass are also starting to be caught under docks and along rock piles, as well as continuing to be found on the shallow coastal flats. Gulp! shrimp, ZMAN streakz spiced up with Pro-Cure scents, and of course live mud minnows are all working. Trout: Slow to fair. Haddrell's Point reports that a handful of reports have come in from anglers starting to find some nice sized trout in 6-10 feet of water.BeaufortSpottail Bass: Good. Bay Street Outfitters in Beaufort reports that redfish are breaking up into smaller schools and the fiddler crabs are coming out of hibernation. They are frequently refusing bait and it's hard to get a hook-up.
