LINCOLN, Neb. – Remaining big game hunting permits may be purchased beginning Monday, June 14, at 1 p.m. Central Daylight Time, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
Residents and nonresidents may purchase deer and antelope permits and residents only may purchase elk permits. These may be purchased at Commission permitting offices and at OutdoorNebraska.org.
The Commission urges hunters to:
-- read the 2010 Big Game Guide to become familiar with permits before purchasing them, and
-- not rush to purchase permits on the first day.
Last year, most deer permits did not sell out until September or later. Only the Boyer Chute Early and the DeSoto Early deer permits sold out in June. Other popular permits and their 2009 sell-out dates are: Elkhorn unit, July 30; Blue Northwest unit, Aug. 18 and Blue Southeast unit, Sept. 8.
All deer permits, except the DeSoto December Muzzleloader permits, are available, including some Republican Mule Deer permits. Resident Cherry Late antelope permits and some resident landowner antelope permits will be available.
Only two elk permits remain – Boyd unit landowner permits. Contact the Commission's Norfolk district office at (402) 370-3374.
