**Four Winners Announced During June TWRC Meeting for State?s Second Managed Elk Hunt**
Four persons have won the right to participate in Tennessee?s second-ever managed elk hunt. The winners were announced Wednesday during the June meeting of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Region II Ray Bell Building in Nashville.
The four winners, all Tennessee residents, were selected in a computer drawing from more than 9,000 entries for the elk hunt scheduled Oct. 18-22, 2010 at the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area. (more <http://news.tennesseeanytime.org/node/5405>)
**State of Tennessee Extends Cave Closure for All Public Caves to Protect Bats in Southeast**
Caves located on state lands in Tennessee will be closed for another year in an effort to slow the spread of White Nose Syndrome (WNS) among the state?s bat population.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is among the state agencies which agreed to close all caves on public property beginning July 1,
2009 for a period of one year. That closure has now been extended for one more year. The Nature Conservancy has also agreed to follow the state?s lead to extend the closure on all caves located on Nature Conservancy property. (more <http://news.tennesseeanytime.org/node/5381>)
**New South Holston Lake Permit Available July 1**
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries have established a permit agreement which will allow the residents of Tennessee and Virginia more convenient fishing opportunities on South Holston Lake.
