A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the shooting last fall of a federally protected bald eagle on a ranch near Groveton in Trinity County. The wounded eagle was found Sept. 19, 2009 and taken by a Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden for rehabilitation at the Last Chance Forever Bird Conservancy in San Antonio. After almost six months of recovery, the eagle is scheduled to be released this Saturday on private property in Shelby County near Lake Timpson. The ongoing criminal investigation into the eagle shooting is a joint effort on the part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and TPWD game wardens. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call the U.S. Fish and Wildlife at 281-876-1520.
